Interesting! I have re & re my air box a number of times and have not noticed any damage to the wire loom. As a matter of fact, I don't remember a loom in that position but if it was nicked/chaffed I would have noticed. BTW, no issues with starting my LR2 normally but now that I have posted this........................ Thanks Paul.

After initially training as an avionic technician, I have spent a lifetime investigating and fixing large electronic and computing systems.
The signalling systems (eg CanBus, etc) are quite sensitive to damaged cable looms and/or poor earthing, plus bad connection (pin and socket) at plugs.

A car is not the best environment (vibration, damp, etc) for electronics of any kind, and something like the common connectivity of the BUS lines make it hard to locate where the fault is.

My best advice is to treat your wiring gently, and make sure that do not move it to a position where it can rub., and do not trap them under items being replaced. If you have an (intermittent?/random?) problem check your power AND signal earths, and the surrounding cables and connectors. Its not always the unit that has failed.

My pet hate is technicians adding wiring during modifications and pulling the wire through the clamps instead of taking the time to undo them and add the new wiring to the loom correctly. (Pulling the wire through causes friction burns to the existing loom) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
