Thanks for the heads up. Definitely something to check when renewing. Meanwhile I'll have a read through my current policies - which by chance are all with Aviva this year. Jules |

You can never get fair and realistic cover with insurance in my experience. On my classic policy for my Triumph Stag. it's not covered for theft if the hood is left down. even in the garage. Silly thing is a Stanley knife will gain you entry to the car quickly and quietly. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep 2013 SD4 HSE The posh one for towing the caravan 1973 Triumph Stag I bought in 2009 and restored. |

Generally the specialised insurance companies that cater for specific categories like the under 30's or over 60's tend to have special premiums that are more expensive than the mainstream insurers, I have checked Saga and a couple of other so called low premium for over 50's/60's and they tend to have more restrictions and clauses costing more than say Aviva, LV and Axa, in fact Axa for me just returned from 3 years in Cyprus as an partner of a civil servant posted to a MOD post was some £300 cheaper than the next quote as they honoured my last UK NCB. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

My wife's Suzuki Swift has ADAS and all the rest of the toys and when she had a cracked windscreen replaced they couldn't do it on the drive but it had to go to the local Autoglass workshop for "recalibration" of the cameras behind the rear view mirror. I think she got some sort of certificate in case the insurers ask for it. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I suppose though in effect you are leaving the vehicle unsecured, with the hood stowed. Having said that I never checked mine when we had convertables, although I never left the Porker without its hood up more because of the Gulls than anything else though Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |

Very common now with screen mounted driving aids, often they might have to take it to a main dealer to get the calibration done as well, I think this is why the past few years the excess on screen cover has really shot up.
