2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Santorini Black
Gen 3 Haldex Pump stuck

Hello

I decided to service my Gen 3 Haldex unit. with 100k~ miles there has been alot of gunk round the filter.

I got a full service kit as i want to do it properly, unit is off the car on my workbench. Everything was going well untill i went to remove the pump. I cannot get it to move in any way. The bolts came out fine, flange removed easily. But the pump seems to be completely stuck.

I have searched through quite a few threads and watched some videos but I cannot see anything i have missed.

Is there a knack to this that im being to stupid to see? Any advice on how to attempt to remove the pump? I would really prefer not to put it back on without doing the pump, hate leaving a job half done.

Having removed the drive flange it should just be a question of removing the two mounting bolts & wiggling the pump out. If the ‘O’ ring seals are swollen it will be tight, a bit of gentle tapping with a soft hammer should help. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Flange and bolts removed. there is no wiggle to the pump, tried gentle tap and then some and still no movement. It seems to be completely seized on.

It could just be a case of aluminium corrosion holding it if it’s never been out.
Gentle heat might persuade it if it’s safe to do so?

Agreed, some heat from an hot air gun might help to free it off. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.
