DAB - now you see it, now you don't

Morning All,

I know DAB on my FL2 was working fine because I listened to it all the way home after collecting the car from the dealer.

A few days ago I noticed there was no DAB at all, only FM1/2 cycling when clicking the button.

DAB 1/2 now appear intermittently but without signal.

Any ideas?

I have a parking sensor fault, though that would seem an odd coincidence but electrics eh?

I've also removed a roof mounted cycle carrier and roof bars but I can't believe they were really acting as an aerial.

Any thoughts?

Can you normally receive DAB where the car is parked now? I find it only useful on main roads and in towns as it keeps cutting out in rural areas. Or are you saying that the whole DAB function is not working wherever you go? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It was working at home and on the move. Then it just disappeared and wouldn't come up pressing the FM/DAB button.

Now it's back when the button is pressed so I get DAB1/2 but no reception.

And it was working fine. Only change has been removal of roof mounted cycle carrier and roof bars (not the fixed ones) and the parking sensor failure.

FM/AM signal is crystal clear, different aerial?

I’ve just had exactly the same issue on my FL2 - FM cycles through FM1 and FM2 but there’s no DAB, and it was definitely there a few weeks ago.

I don’t have roof bars at all. 2010 HSE TD4 Lago Grey

DAB Atenna (pod) on top of roof, FM Atenna is in luggage compartment RH window, and filters, amps, etc in rear roof. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

That's interesting.

Could the roof bars and bike carrier really have been acting as an aerial extension?

Or could the radio need some sort of reset with them being removed?

Hi , new here and hoping for some help , our dab radio has started to produce a muffled distorted sound, you can select the channels ok, and hear the gist of what is playing . Fm radio clear as day , but the dab both channels just muffled . Has anyone here experienced this and know how to correct it ? My local independent garage suggested it may need a new fin , but they’d be circa 120£. A reboot / search has not solved the problem. Unsure if the fin is linked to DAB , presumed it was mobile and satnav gps. Any help advice appreciated . Thank you

Ok , so a while since I last posted for help, I went on the web and everything seemed to point to the DAB module , which is behind the plastic moulding in the boot on the passenger side
Brand new cost £650
eBay range from £50-60 second hand
It’s a 20 minute job to replace it and put the trim back on.. I’m not a mechanical person by any means but if this helps anyone fix a really annoying problem felt worth posting

Ah, now that sounds like an investment worth making.

Thanks for the update.
