Regarding all season tyres
Can anyone offer a comparison between Michelin Latitudes and the Continental equivalent, based on actual use

I don’t want any other make.

I know about all the tyres available...

I narrowed it down to mich or conti..............
Then eventually decided on Continental all season for £600 for four fitted.
Over the last 56 years of buying tyres for cars and wagons I must have tried every bloody combination of cheap
And expensive tyre, remould, recap etc.............

Just was asking if anyone had experience of either or........

My Metropolis is fitted with Continental Cross Contact LX Sport M+S 235/55R19 105H and have no complaints, very grippy wet and dry and low road noise. 94 Disco 300 TDI Gone
96 Defender 300 TDI Gone...Should have kept it.
2003 Freelander ES TD4 Gone
2002 Defender TD5 Gone
2005 Freelander HSE TD4 Gone
2015 Freelander 2 Metropolis Keeping for now!

Conti's will give you circa 40k with sensible rotation.

Can't speak for the other brand, as I replaced like for like. I heard that the original fit Cross-Contact UHP's are no longer available, and have been replaced by some green Eco rubbish.....can't comment on their longevity, but should imagine, if anything, it will probably be less to appease the zealots/green headbangers.

Any suggestions on mileage for rotation?

I did mine at 25k. What was interesting was that the rears that went on the front then caught up with the other axle quite quickly in terms of mileage, and I could only manage another 15k before all 4 needed doing.

Alignment was spot on (checked on a Hunter system), but the inside edges on the formerly rear tyres now fronts, wore away quicker than the rest of the rubber.

I still think that was a good innings mind you, and all still had 1.5 - 2mm left on them at that mileage.

Do you think it would be worth swapping them at lower miles then?

Don't know, it worked for me as I managed to get all 4 changed in the one hit.

I suppose it depends on your driving type/style.....my FL2 was mainly used on Motorways/NSL roads and the odd bit of green laning at weekends.

If the tyres were still available I would buy them again if I still had the Freelander. I'm currently running factory Conti LX Sports on the DS and they are nearly £300 a corner! (20"s), so that's something to look forward to.

Mine was on the original continentals, but as they where 5 years old I decided to replace them.

Maybe I might swap them around every year???

Yeah, might work for you...again, depends on how you drive and where.

I have a vehicle lift so swapping them isn't a problem,
Will hang on until I replace the discs
