I can only suggest that the thermostat control will shut the water valve on cold setting but the movement away from cold the signal goes open circuit, suggesting that the potentiometer controling the water valve is broken whether it is directly off the dial or a software drive you need to ask Alex_Pescaru, that's his sphere of expertise my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

The Freelander 2 is an air side blended reheat system, there is no water valve for temperature control. There is a water valve if a fuel fired heater fitted but these are quite uncommon on the FL2. |

OK, thanks for that, then I suppose the same would apply to the air blending potentiometer, it must involve a basic servo system. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
