I was chatting with a Land Rover owner in South Australia a few years ago & he very happy with the car. He had a D3, but the Freelander is more reliable. He was soon going to replace the transmission for the second time. First time was at 600,000km. Now up to 1,150,000km. The car looked pretty good even with all the scratches down the sides from the bush. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
