Possibly Crankshaft sensor fault? as this seems common but diagnostics would confirm if you can get it plugged in. 2013 FL2 XS.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi
Mine cut out - stalled a couple of times and then cut out completely.
Luckily I brought a crank sensor the week before I brokedown and the breakdown guy fitted it - job done.
For £20 could be worth having one in the car as they are a known failure sensor.
