After 13 years of ownership it was time for a change

Freel2 Readers,

I've only used the front heated windshield (or is it windscreen) one time in 13 years.

It doesn't get below freezing where I live except for a few days each year

Unfortunately my original windshield cracked and it needed to be replaced. (it lost a battle with a rock on the highway)

I must admit that I never liked the vertical lines from the heating element.
So for the replacement I eliminated the heating function by purchasing a windshield without this feature.

Before doing this I confirmed that my HVAC wouldn't have a problem. I removed the 40 amp fuses and tried the Defroster and it worked fine.

Some pictures

Note: I removed the Wiper arms and the plastic cowl and the plastic shroud for the mirror to make the job easier for the Technicians doing the repair. They said it wasn't necessary. I didn't bother explaining to them that when it comes to the Land Rover optional is a nice way of saying that this is how I did it correctly after taking everything back apart and doing it again.

I did ask the Technicians to remove the old mounts so that I could keep them just in case the new mount is too loose for the mirror. (Reading Freel2 will make you paranoid but it will also make your Land Rover last forever, a small price to pay.)

Take care

Paul

Alex I'm never selling, don't worry about that.

Litewater the glass is expensive I hope I don't have to replace all of it.

I know, our block of units replaced all the windows & we paid extra for laminated glass. $16k for our 11 windows a couple of decades ago. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

6 months of the year I’m dealing with frost. 4 of those months well below 0. The front screen defogger is the best. Guy Pensa

I don’t have a an ice scraper in the car

In fact I don’t even own one anymore

When I was young I lived somewhere that it snowed but not anymore

If I still lived there I would have got the Windshield with the heater

Take care

Paul
