Wheel alignment and steering sensor calibration

Good morning from Rome, Italy. Just purchased my first FL last saturday. It's a 2014 SD4 SE with 40.000 kms on the clock from new (and looks new) still with factory fitted tyres.
The car drives extremely well but steering wheel is not 100% in straight ahead position and on the motorway pulls to right (italian roads of course).
Tyres are sure almost gone but, however, not uneven worn. Quite sure she needs a 4 wheel alignment but I've read on the workshop manual that, after alignment, the steering sensor should be calibrated. What this means ? should I have to do a proper aligment first and then go to a Land Rover dealer for a steering sensor calibration?
I'm am sure that, may be, this has been already discussed in the forum but don't know when Very Happy
Also ?im trying to find out a good solution as a diagnostic tool for personal use
Thank You very much in advance for any input

Hello Vilas,

Good question.

I had the front lower suspension arms changed by my main dealer, they also replaced a drivers side differential seal under warrantee.

I asked whether they had realigned everything after that work, and I was amazed when they said "it’s not usually needed, we never do it".

So I took the vehicle to a 4 wheel alignment specialist who put it on their Hunter rig.

They found that one front wheel was spot on, but the other was significantly out of spec. The rear drivers side wheel was at the edge of the tolerance band, so they corrected everything for, if I remember, about £85. So much for main dealers!

But I didn’t even think to ask whether the steering sensor needed to be reset. I watched the procedure and they didn’t connect anything to the OBD so I assume the sensor has not been reset?

I’d also be interested if anyone has more information about this?

That's what I've read into the workshop manual at "Suspension System - General Information - Four-Wheel Alignment" procedure
