Advice needed re fitting a XTRONS GPS/Android Head unit

Hi guys and gals.
After watching a couple of www & Youtube vlogs extolling the benefits of fitting a XTRONS head unit to a FR2 I decided to go out a buy one. It turned up a couple of days later - and looks like a good quality piece of kit. But came with a mass of cabling - looks like possibly (I'm guessing here) cables to suit pre & post face-lift models?

Has any one on here had ago at fitting this kit to their FR2.

I should point out that my FR2 is a 2007 XS with what I think is the Mid-range Radio/audio equipment - but with no existing GPS LCD screen head unit - just the vacant storage space where a head unit could go.

So my concern is will my XS spec vehicle previously without a head unit screen be likely to have the relevant cable looms in place? And other people mention an optical loop cable?

Also there are a couple of single wires coming from the XTRONS looms that are un-terminated (orange I think) and one of them marked ACC, and REV etc. Do feeds for these need to be found from elsewhere in the vehicles existing cable looms etc.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I keep threatening to pull the trigger on one of these but haven’t managed it as yet. But I have looked into what’s involved and, on the face of it, it’s fairly straightforward.

This video by Powerful UK shows the installation where the original screen has been removed.

They provide a link to a diagram showing the basics of the connection, namely that the Xtrons cable harness fits between the LR harness and the LR radio and connects to the Xtrons head unit. This is their diagram.

Since you don’t have the LR screen and sat nav, I don’t think you’ll need the MOST bypass loop.

This picture from Xtrons identifies the different wires and I think you ones you mention are for connecting to a reversing camera. Since you presumably don’t have one I suspect they can be ignored.

Keep us posted as to how you get on.
