You source assessment is accurate; just search the forum for high level brake light leak. |

Take it out and replace with new seal and repeat at regular intervals or apply your preferred brand of sealant and refit and forget 👍 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Many thanks all for the tips. I have ordered the thicker seal from the eBay seller, hopefully that will solve the issue👍👍 |

It will do and it’s easy to fit just remember to smear a bit of Vaseline on both sides of the new seal. |

I think he meant apply to body as well , which I did . I think frame mastic ( not to be confused with silicone) as used in the building trade would work as well . A small bead to the body or gasket and as it never sets , it could be pulled off if a bulb needs replacing. |

I’ve just looked through receipts it was from eBay the seller doesn’t appear to be on there anymore so can’t see a product description. |

The types I’ve got off eBay have had adhesive on one side. Didn’t realise there would be any without it , seem pointless, as the original is stuck to the light . I bought 3 for six quid about a year ago . A guy was selling several sorts of things very cheap. They are usually about £5 each. |

I fitted the thicker seal and it does appear to be a better fit, however, it did start to leak again after a few months.

It is a bit of a fiddle but what I did & it has worked a treat was cut two small pieces from an old credit card & place it between the clips on the light assembly & the bodywork hence pulling the seal tighter |
