Hi, I think I need some help here. I have a fl2 , automatic, 2007 for 1,5 year now. Great car, I love it.
But about 1 moth ago on the highway driving about 90 mls/hr I suddenly lost power. It kept on going but wit a maximum speed of 60 mls/hr. Like no turbo was present. I drove it that way for approx one hour and it kept on running, still no power. After standing still at a traffic light for about 2 minutes I pulled up and it flew away. Drove like it never did before. After that I drove about 1000 mls and it kept on driving great.
Until this evening:
Highway about 80 mls/hr, suddenly lost power and I couldn't get it above 60. I went of the highway, red light at a traffic light and when pulling up it drove like a new one.
Could somebody push me in the wright direction please? I have no clue where to search.
Fault codes:
P1259
P0489
P0183
P1298
U0415
P0299
Have all been cleared now.

Both times when the problem occured there were no messages on the display or engine check lights coming up.

As mentioned all codes were cleared last week.
This weekend I had trip of 400 mls and the car run great, no problems whatsoever.
Nevertheless 1 fault code has been stored again during the trip: P0183.
Any ideas?

I had the exact same problem and it was the throttle body gears worn down ,changed the throttle body and have had not further problems in 6000 miles.
Give it a go cheaper than a turbo or egr.

My loss of power recent story (no idea how to handle it yet

- last summer on long drives I started to notice insufficient power, I thought maybe the diesel was not ok...
- August last year replaced throttle body - on day started to shake hardly when switching off so had to do it.
- November had the service guy to look on the egr - he said should be replaced, so he put a Pierburg one instead. Since that moment scanning with OBD I get a P1402 error EGR metering restricted. As the EGR was new, I ignored it. I also made sure to check the diesel filter is at least Purflux one.
- now this summer on a longer trip started to act weirdly again: kept on auto only below 2000 rpms, poor acceleration, and one evening entered the Reduced Engine Performance mode a few km before getting to the day destination. As I scanned it, a P0299 turbocharger underboost came on. I was able to clear the code and it did not come back, however the loss of power is still there (has still some 800 km to home and no error came back, it is not in limp mode, as it has some boost, but definitely way way less than normal and still it seats rather low in rpms - below 2000).

On some Ford forum I read that an aftermarket EGR might confuse sensors and thus ECU might throw an error, this is why I was not alarmed about the error.
Could be that my new EGR is faulty and this leads to underboosting of the turbo, by remaining (probably) stuck closed.
Last summer when replaced the throttle body I also preventively cleaned the MAP and MAF sensors, so I would not see them as an issue.
Any ideas how should I check normal boost values with an ordinary OBD tool?

HI, you cannot. I had to have the parameters reset for the EGR valve and Turbo Actuator on dealer level software when I had them changed. You might have a sticky or worn Turbo Actuator. The EGR valve controls the Turbo so changing both together is a good move. The plastic gears strip in the actuator when the carbon in the turbo stops it working. On my car it blew the intercooler hose.
