OH Sugar...UPDATE 2nd UPDATE

Got a leak from the power steering, garage says the rack and quoted £1300.00 to replace with a new one.
How does that sound?
Then they say the rear diff and heldex are rumbling and the rear prop needs bearings/replacement
Total cost all new parts about £5.500.00 (inc power steering)
Cars worth about £3ish, i said that i would keep the car because it does every thing we want and the best car i've had but........ Common sense isn't very common.

Got a great engine so don't need a crate engine. Laughing Common sense isn't very common.

Western Power Steering 0117 960 2906 will sell you a recon steering rack for £174.60 inc vat, is the £1300 one made by Rolex?

1300 is fitted and no doubt all the extras needed. Common sense isn't very common.

I had a PS leak on my Discovery 4 (FL2 but bigger). Problem was in one of the pipes supplying the rack and LR don't do them seperate from the rack, so a huge quote. Local garage man then cut off the leaking pipe and made up a bit of pipe to replace. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

Nothing special about the 2006-2010 FL2 steering rack as it's based on the Ford system fitted to the MK4 Mondeo.

Would say the labour would be the big chunk of that price - removing sub frame and all.

Did they say what was leaking? I know a lot of additives are basically snake oil, but what about chucking a bottle of Lucas Steering Rack Leak Stop in there - might give you some breathing room if it's seals?

Changed to my summer wheels and the drone is the same.
Anybody know how much bell charges for diff and heldex replacement? Common sense isn't very common.

I've been looking into this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LR-Freelander-2...1438.l2649

Just need a garage to fit it in order to keep the warranty on the recon box.
But I also want to find someone that knows what the Haldex is in order to service it at the same time.
