Hello, I've got a fl2 td4 auto 2007. It is loosing coolant Low coolant shows up every 10 or so days. I have had it at the garage today and they can find no leaks, pressure test was fine, Carpets fine, temp fine, heating ok, new cap fitted few weeks ago but still the same. Had new cambelt & water pump last yr. At a loss to know where to look. Anybody have any ideas. Could it be the water pump failing or maybe egr cooler? No white smoke and heating is ok? Had a quick look for a new cooler and quite pricey and still not sure which one I need as I saw 2 diffrent ones.
Any help ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks

When I did my cam belt last year, I used the gates kit. I found a drain plug in the base of the waterpump, which was not tight, and allowed a small amount of coolant to escape. Others in this forum have found the same. Just an idea, perhaps worth checking as it's not difficult to access, and you have had your cam belt changed recently.

as above , I changed my cam belt last year with a gates kit and noticed the drain plug was loose as I fitted the pump so tightened then . 2009 FL2 S now gone

Check the thermostat housing on RH side of cylinder head, that's common, mine has had a weep from it for 2 years, I've got the part but not fitted it. I believe EGR coolers are known to leak too, you won't see that unless you took it off.

Thermostat housing or hooses connection. Had leaks on them too. One fitting was cracked on half seam. Also tube to reservoir can leak sometimes and it is hard to find as coolant evaporate so not much to seek for drops...

How about the auto gearbox oil cooler?
This heat exchanger has gearbox oil on one side, and coolant on the other, it can fail where the two mix and you could lose water into the gearbox. - might be worth checking if the gearbox oil level has increased. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
