Sump undertray

Following on from my other issues, I seem to have a lot of oil around the intercooler pipes, bottom of engine and side of turbo. When I took the undertray off, I saw it has some form of oil absorbent pad attached with four plastic clips, well 3 in my case, which is in a right mess. Does anyone have the part number for this pad and clips as I want to degrease the whole thing and fit a new pad before refitting. Thanks in advance,. Cool

I just scrubbed mine with soapy water and jet washed it clean. I think you might have to pop into your local JLR dealer to see if its even available. I googled it and got nothing useful. Jules

Further searching .... I cannot find the pad listed separately from a new undertray (which is £200+)

Thanks for that. I may look at a universal oil spill pad, and see what fits,I’ll report back and let you know. Thanks again for your help, quite new to this freelander 2 scene, but it’s bangernomics at its best. Not a huge value on a 2007 s but I’m happy to pick up a spanner to get the old girl back to her former glory

Any oil in the grill area is almost always down to split intercooler hoses or a cracked intercooler, in my experience.
It would be well worth having a good look at them. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

thanks badger - i have had to replace the boost pipe - top center. and i do have a stumble /hesitation at times split inter cooler would not help.
sorry for the partial hijack

Back to this padding, i know on other cars it is foam and sound proofing, as pointed out its a pad on the FL2. but if it was an oil mat would it not be a service item or at least more readily available? Stewart

I had a similar issue with my Freelander and like you checked out a replacement padding and it was only available as part of the undertray.

Mine was beyond repair so I decided just to ditch it and eventually sold the car without one on.

It didn't seem to make much difference without the padding.

Forget the plastic undertray with sound deadening pad. 4-6mm aluminum versions are available online, add to that one that covers the fuel tank and have fun without fear of damaging your pride and joy. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

The front sump "guard" is steel, although would dent easily, better to go for the thicker aluminium after market version.
the sump guard on the FL1 was plastic (cosmetic).

Mine is metal too, currently not refitted until it’s degreased, painted, and some form of oil pad fitted. Looking to fit a universal oil pad, or better still, sack off the oil pad and fix the oil leaks. Mr. Green
