Hi There,

Has anybody fitted an aftermarket all alloy intercooler? I have been looking on-line & discovered several on ebay for around £110.00 (see link below). I ask because I am in the process of replacing an intercooler that has blown the seal from the side of one of the plastic end caps, if this is a weak spot then an all metal welded one would (in my opinion) be an improvement. Any advice much appreciated.

I bought a cheap one and this was result.



Bought a branded Nissens one as replacement. Been ok since replaced. Original has plastic end caps.

While looking for ideas for an after cooler for my air compressor, I noticed a lot of rubbish on the market. Buying a cheap copy might save a few dollars up front, but you will end up having to buy another cooler & do the whole job all over again. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for the advice, I think I agree entirely with this.

My intercooler looks like it has blown at the end cap too still driving OK and no fault codes but I need to get sorted ASAP so it may be quite common keep us informed on what you do and any improvement it makes

I ended up having a standard OEM one fitted by the garage as I was uncertain of the quality of of the ones I had see advertised.

How's the car now with the new cooler any improvement noticed

Apparently the Focus RS uses the same original cooler so aftermarket larger RS coolers should fit
