An AT tyre is probably going to meet your needs best. Loads of threads on here if you search. My go to manufacturer is General Grabber, , using their AT3 at present and very impressed, tarmac, gravel and snow. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Pirelli AT + , are excellent tyres . They are also very quiet for an all terrain tyre , drive and steer well . I’ve been using them and their predecessor the ATR for 9 years . My car isn’t a supermarket carpark Princess , it goes off tarmac every week . One thing to look at on an all terrain tyre is the bead . A good All Terrain tyre will have a large rim protection bead to protect the alloys when you’re on the rough stuff . They are available in 17” , that’s what I’m running . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

They start off suprisingly quiet but get noisier with age. Some bitumen road surfaces are more noisy than others, concrete roads are noisy.

Had Michelin Cross Climates fitted on Friday - had them previously on my Subaru Forester and was impressed especially with the wear, seemed to last forever. |

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Nokia Hakka 10s........it's the first Nokia tyre I ever owned and they were simply AMAZING on snow and ice, bloody incredible! If memory serves, they tracked directional & side to side during revolution in heavy snow and that cleared the snow that packs into the threads. Simply, a great tyre. They don't make that model anymore and that manufacturer is not carried by most tyre sellers here so they are generally too pricey for me for the models that are of interest. |

Had a set put on my Outback recently . They replaced the superb Bridgestone A005 Weather Control . I’ve been impressed with Cross Climates , they were outstanding in last weekend’s virgin snow . Brilliant in the rain , and pretty damn good on dry roads . They were around £100 a set cheaper than the Bridgestone mainly due to Michelin owning Black Circles , and promoting their own brand!! . If you’re never going to put the car through mud and ruts etc , just use it on the occasional foray into tracks and grass , they are a great choice . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned ! 2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto . |

Recollect them being on a few years so would have been well over 20k miles. Had a spell of having to change three in quick succession, down to nails, chunk of metal. Only ever put one complete set on in five years of owning that car.
