2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Tonga Green

Drivers knee airbag cover fix

Hi guys.

So my old man had a poke around in my car when I wasn't there and pulled the knee airbag cover open.
It looks like it was held in by small breakaway tabs, and can't just be pushed closed.

I've tried a couple glues which just won't bond to the type of plastic it is.

Any ideas on a cheapish fix that won't hinder the airbag from deploying in the event of a crash?

Your best option going forward is to take anything sharp away from “the old man”.
Personally I wouldn’t try to repair it. I would get a new cover fitted and bill him. MY06 FL1 TD4 2 door red (gone)

As far as I know, the knee airbag cover is a one way deal. You'll need to replace the whole module.
It's obviously a safety system, which needs to be correct, or it might not work when it's needed. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Ok it’s looking expensive for you so how about this ? Get some Emery paper and rub down inside the top and bottom of the cover right at the corners and also where they would meet up when closed. Clean with some kind of alcohol and apply four one each corner super strong sticky things with the spongy bit in the middle press together then tape in place for a while until they have had a chance to bond. If it works I’m pretty much sure it wouldn’t hinder the airbag going off if it needed to.

There are 4 screws that are holding the airbag panel in place.
Two on the lower part (vertical orientation) and two below steering wheel (angled orientation).
Steering wheel needs to be raised in the most upward position to see them.
Then, you pull the panel out. It is held in place by some six clips, but a little bit of force will do the trick.

The 'reverse' is the replacement.
