Book price of Freelander 2 SE in Japan is 4,900,000JPY (roughly $49,000), actually quite expensive compare to other SUV such as Toyota Harrier, Nissan Murano, Ford escape, Honda CRV...
Now I'm surprised to see UK Freelander site with lower $$$...
Obviously many people go to domestic cars due to price, oh my...
Tak about difference:
Just read other Japanese owner's blog that EU version shift changes at around 2000-2500 rpm and mostly using gear 3 and 4, Japanese version is around 2,000rpm mostly using gear 5.
We have only 3 versions: S/SE/HSE, no GS nor XS. Only i6 (3.2l 6 bulb petrol engine)type is available (No disel engine since disel is not popular in Japan except for trucks... bad habit ).
Color variation is limited, you can get silver, white and black with short lead time. Difficult to get tambora frame, tonga green, rimini red and such other variations (maybe wait 12 weeks or so )
Anyway I love this car and enjoy by going camping
Also this car has good appearance in town for shopping (may people stop and look)!
