Mine also has the HVAC incompatibility code, so that's probably a glitch.

This happened to mine on one day only, for a few moments, some months ago. It cleared itself and has never done it again. Only recently I noticed the iPhone was not connecting via BT.(don't often use it) Not yet looked at why but you have given me some pointers. Quick update on this. Replacing the bluetooth unit may have fixed the issue. It did not flash intermittently after I had replaced the unit and the last 2 times my wife has been out in it she has not noticed it playing up. Will monitor it for a while and see how it goes.

Further update, this seems to have cured the intermittent on/off flashing. It has not occurred since I swopped the bluetooth unit. I assume there was an issue with the MOST connectors in the old bluetooth unit.
