Hi Everyone

New to the forum so hello to all.

This week I noticed the passenger side carpet of my Freelander 2 was getting wet, very wet in fact. Today I decided to start looking into the issue. I done some research on the Internet to get an idea of common problems and some pointers for where to start.

Anyway after some time with the hose pipe I located the leak. The water is entering through the bonnet release assembly inside the car. When I removed the 10mm bolt from the lever plate on the A post water came from the hole on the left where the plates locating pin is fitted.

I was considering sealing the locating pin hole but then thought of a few questions that I hope someone may be able to help me with.

Is it normal to have water entering the A post? If not where could it possibly enter from?

If so is there a drain point for the A post? As it may be blocked

The vehicle is a 2012 GS model and does not have a sunroof.

I'm guessing where the release assembly is located the A post is a box section and not possible to access behind the hole.

As I couldn't see into the hole I used a scriber to probe around and felt something behind that I think was sealent.

So I think the question is should I seal the locating pin hole or maybe locate the source of the A post water ingress? I think the latter but not even sure if it is normal to have water in the A post.

Any ideas or advice would be gratefully received, many thanks in advance.
