If you have to drain the system again , you could catch the clean coolant and filter it before you put it back. I'd have thought a coffee filter paper or gauze in a funnel would do. Jules |

Thanks, I'll do that. I'm going to drain it down again today and measure the internal diameter of the pipe spigot and see if it's different to the old one. It's puzzling because all the diesel 2.2 thermostats have the same part number and should be identical. |

Problem is the pipe end is not a straightforward design. Even the socket for it has a cut-out so it only locates one way. Even the O-ring is not an "O" in section! It seems that the internal diameter of the spigot on the new thermostat housing is about 0.5mm oversize. Looks like i should have paid the extra for the Land Rover original |
