I had a look to see if one could push something down through a small gap when closed. Even if you can there is no point. You can't manually open it with a tool of any description.

Try push hard to glovebox in place of lock. Lock won´t unloc unless it is fully locked. If something pushing aginst it it can stuck. Then you have disconnected feel on latch. |

I looked under the handle. If the lug at the end of the handle has broken off, make a small hook, a length of wire & bend a 90° hook at the end, only needs to be a few mm long & pull the black ring/loop part down. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
