Locked out

Hello all, I have a Landy conundrum. My vehicle is in my garage The fobs won’t unlock the car. I have not been to the car now for about 3-4 weeks I am thinking flat battery but the red light on the dash is flashing so maybe not flat oor flat enough to not operate locks but still make the light flash. I can’t get to the passenger door As it is about 2-3” away from wall of the garage. I have heard it goes to sleep mode, if so how do I wake it up, or ‘‘tis there anything else I can do apart from throw a brick at the window. Thanks for any replies Marto GS Sd4 2012

Tricky one there, I suspect it has indeed gone into "sleep" as you suggest. The only way is to get in through the passenger side and insert the key in its dock to bring it back to life.

I had the same dilemma myself a couple of years ago with my previous FL2, I'd parked it up for a month or so very close to a wall with no room to get to the passenger side manual lock. I ended up using my Defender to drag it out of its space.

How about getting a trolley jack under the front of it if there's enough room to swing it sideways a bit?

So if I climb on to the roof and reach down and if I can get the key into the lock and turn it that will wake it up and the fob should then work and then open up the rest of the doors? GS Sd4 2012

You can lift up the front with a jack and put it on jack stands (axle stands if you prefer).

Then remove the protection tray from under the engine.

When you have access to the starter motor you can charge the battery by connecting to the starter motor.

Charger B+ to large wire for starter motor

Charger B- to engine block, transmission housing or any other suitable earth

With the battery charged your LR2 should work as expected.

Good luck

Paul

Unfortunately not, that will just unlock the passenger door which will then set the alarm off when you open it, you need to get the key in the dock to wake the systems up and turn the alarm off.

'Axle' had the same problem a while back,

Here's how he solved it. I warn you it involved the use of washing up liquid - and his wife!

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic34781.html?highlight=sleep

From previous experience, I have found that once the door is unlocked, and the car can recognise the key fob, the car will start when you press the button as normal. The alarm will stop also with a normal start procedure

The Battery Management System conserves the battery by shutting off all systems except the Perimeter Alarm, normally after a maximum of 28 days idle. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Thanks for all the replies and links, I have read them all and it seems the only way in is to break a window. I can’t move it, I can’t get to tow electrics, applying power to the battery via the starter motor or alternator does not wake up the car. You have to put the fob into the dock to wake it up. Although I will try and apply power to the battery but I only have a jump starter pack as garage is a 10 min walk from house and hope it is just a near flat battery.

Next question, which window is easier to replace front or rear door. GS Sd4 2012

I wonder if a local car removal firm will have dollies to put the wheels on then just push it out

Can you not just to tow FL2 out of the garage ? Anybody with a 4X4 with a low range box could do it.
I'd put double plastic sheet under each tyre with washing up liquid on and slide the tyres on that. Jules

Breaking a window seems a bit drastic? Assuming you have roadside assistance call them out, they’ll surely be able to break in legally using those thin rods they have or failing that drag it out far enough to access near side door?
