Wales 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Occasionally I see a Disco 4 and sometimes wonder whether I should've plumped for one of those instead of my 2013 FL2 Sd4 XS. But then I hear of so many Disco owners moving the other way that maybe I made the right choice?

As above, I'd have bought a D4 to replace my D2 in a heart beat were it not for the horror stories of engine failures and the like. I still lust after late model D4s in Firenze red or black and wonder 'should I?' But when common sense returns I'm happy with my choice of Fl2. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I just threw common sense to the wind and switched from a history of FL2 into a D4, I don't regret it so far Whistle

Stay with the Freelander 2 loved my Disco 4 but the crank was always in the back of my mind, then when I took the Disco to JAS Land Rovers for it's service in August he had a Disco 4 on the ramp with body off for guess what, that was it it had to go.

The Disco 3 and 4 was designed to have the body removed easily ........ to get at most major components.

It does come off as you say but there's a hell of a lot of work to removing it. If I recall its 6-7 hours labour which amounts to a big bill even before you start to fix the issue which required it off in the first place. My brother works for an engineering company and they have just replaced the 3 litre SDV6 engine in his bosses D4 which snapped a crank and put a con rod out through the block. I was looking at the old engine a few weeks ago and was reminded again as to why I don't need that hassle. He was quoted something like £8k for just the new engine from LR. 😵 Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Just my two penneth, I like the D3 & D4 and have owned a D2 but they are just too big for my needs now plus I think the FL2 drives and looks better.
