The brake lights are out

It was pointed out to me that all 3 brake lights on my 2010 freelander 2 have stopped working, has anyone else had this bappen, is there a fuse for these or am I looking at something more serious?
Thanks
Grant

My first guess would be brake light switch, does you cruise control drop out when you touch the brakes?

There are no fuses just for the brake lights, on top of that the brake lights in the rear clusters are on a separate feed than the high level light. If your 100% sure the cruise drops out, then it could need the ECU module reseting that controls the brake lights!!!!

I know of two members who have had Tail Light failure and the lamp was fine, it turned out that a Hard Reset was needed, it cured their problem, you've nothing to lose.

Thanks for this info, I assume a dealership is the only place that can do this, is this correct?
Would it be covered by the warranty?

Thanks again

Try disconnecting the battery for a good 10 minutes.

Disconnect the both leads, hold the two leads together, pop indoors, have a cup of tea, reconnect the battery, hopefully it will have solved your problem.

Yo will have to reset the the the windows, details in the manual.

Can I ask what the problem was? I'm having this issue now. Both rear lights stopped working, but the top rear (center) brake light is still active. Thanks!

I know this is an old thread but I had this issue too. Right brake light bulb blew. But after I replaced it (Bursons in Australia and ask for BAW15D bulbs to save the $70 each stealership fee) the light would still not light up.

Until I reset the ECU as per this video (Not by me).

Key in, hit on (but with the foot off the brake pedal). Then off. Then start the vehicle. And bingo it worked.

Hope this helps someone. No disconnecting batteries required. Interestingly, before that, when I cleared the fault codes using the IID-BT tool it didn’t make a difference.

Hope this helps someone.
