Had a fun day out today at the Avalanche Adventure Pay and Play Day. Heavily recommend and was astounded what the Freelander could manage - Outperforming some of Disco's there actually

Last run of the day was wading a deep puddle and I fear it fried my alternator

The battery light came on halfway through the journey home. By the time i got to my front door the dash had lit up like a proverbial Christmas tree with the electrics and the stereo doing some interesting stuff.

It's clear the battery isn't charging. Checked the fuses etc.

I have ordered a new Alternator (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-FREE...2749.l2648)

Has anyone had any experience changing an alternator on an I6? - I found some advice on the changing the thermostat and it looks like a massive pain to take off the intake manifold..... https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32245.html

You already found the post I made about removing the manifold.

If you want to you can remove the entire front of the vehicle.

This will create lots of room for getting off the manifold and getting to the Alternator.

I don't recommend this approach but you wanted alternatives

I checked your Ebay link

That Alternator doesn't seem to come with a clutch pulley.

You will need to get the pulley and the tool to install it.

Note: I used the Metal Nerds tool and Air Tools (the Torx bit included in the kit was a little too short)

I recommend you get a tool with a longer bit.

Note: I didn't replace the Alternator, I only replaced the clutched pulley
