Why do any of us buy Landrover vehicles after all we have to say is negative ?

Welcome Richard

Despite modern Landrovers being regularly slated for unreliability

Older models arent too bad.
I've had two Discovery 1 (200TDI, 300TDI), one Discovery 2 (TD5), three Freelander 1 and three Freelander 2.
All were second hand or Ex-demo and none have caused me a major issue that needed long periods at the dealership.

The 300TDI blew a clutch slave cylinder seal whilst caravanning up north but I was able to buy a new one and replace it the next day on the caravan site. The Td5 got stuck in reverse once due to an electrical fault when it was quite new - sorted under warranty. The first Freelander 1 had a new IRD unit under warranty. All the other Freelanders have been fine apart from a single electrical glitch ( I think) in the current FL2 which corrected itself.

I had more issues with my BMW E91 which had several visits to the dealers over electrical problems - the most irritating being the adaptive headlights which would occasionally jam facing the wrong way and you had to stop and turn the engine off to reset them - the problem was never resolved during the 5 years I had the car despite replacing all the headlights modules (appox £2500) under warranty twice. Jules

VIDEO SHOWS MY WHY IT'S ALL OVER

I found a great video done in English by a german guy with a Disco 3. He does loads of miles in it with his family and really likes it and recommends IF
you like and can do most of the repairs yourself ! He says AVOID LR garages and stealers, do it yourself and the car is worth buying.

He also mentions that every 10,000kms something important is going to go wrong ... always. But that's why he loves the car, he can't wait to fix it!

If I needed any more proof, well that's it.
I've nowhere and no time to fix massive cars. and not enough money to get garages to fix it.

I read on another Forum about the continual need for fixing and maintenance on FL1s too ....

FL2 seems the best (if not only LR) option by far. Thumbs Up

England

The latest Which report again has a pop at LR reliability, LR pointed out that their survey replies covered only 0.18% of cars sold in the UK and it was therefore not representative in concluding the cars were unreliable, I wonder if their favourite far eastern cars had a reply rate the low whether they would report the results or just state there were too few replies my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

I read a quote once that said "FL2 - Best Ford x Ford x Far"

Rolling with laughter
