AUTOMATIC 190BHP v 150bhp and year

I've decided to bite the bullet and get a FL2. I prefer the Autobox for the lower gear ratio (4.1:1 V 3.8:1 manual) and other off-road advantages.

Does anyone have any experience with the 190 v 150bhp. I'd prefer the 150BHP for the lower tax and consumption. Is one as reliable as the other?
I'm looking at one with 138,000 KMS on the clock. Is there anything that should have been done or will have to be done soon?

Also, is it true that the terrain response wwas improved from MY 2010?

Many Thanks Very Happy

Australia 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Ipanema Sand

I'm very biassed. I love my SD4 (190). I tested a couple of TD4s, not enough to actually tell the difference. They have significant differences though.

At 138,000km the timing belt is either due or past due. MY11 SD4 SE Auto

I now have a 2011 SD4 and previously had a 2008 TD4, both autos, to me the difference seems huge, (as of course, the BHP numbers suggest,) pick up from standing start is really quite sporty for a biggish car and has surprised a few people.

Fuel consumption wise, there's nothing between them really, I currently get around 25 - 27 mpg on regular short around-town journeys and maybe 38 or so on decent motorway runs, the previous one was very similar, obviously, gunning it from the lights every time will have an impact, but I think I've (mostly) grown out of that now Very Happy Whistle

Go for the latest SD4 Auto you can afford.

All SD4s have the latest transmission, although the later ones (with the clock on the dashboard) had updates that were developed for the Evoque, and therefore slightly better.

The SD4 Auto works very well, and suits the FL2. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Inspection - Walk away?

I had a look at the 2011 FL2 190 auto 130,000kms with leather trim and satnav.
The first thing that comes to mind is 'used hard' and a bit tatty.
The salesman is an 'old' guy who's got a garage, and it is there to be serviced and repaired.
It was unwashed, which was good. Could see it's been driven on tracks.
The outside has scratches and a dent and the front grill was 'stained'. Under the door handle there were scratches on a keyless entry car. Lady driver?
The inside surprised me as the steering wheel had worn patches and the handbreak leather was very worn and the auto gearstick had very worn and torn leather, the armrest had a split in it. Apart from that...
Mechanically, the guy says it probably needs the turbo doing. They'd give it to me fully repaired and serviced...
Don't know about you, but the KMS seem faked. In an online report, I could only see one reading at 50,000kms at the firsst MOT in 2015. After that...

It's 13900 euros, which the going price for this model, year and kms but NOT in this condition in my opinion.

Walk away... ?

With the amount of wear and damage you've mentioned, it suggests as you say a much higher miles/km usage or a very clumsy/careless previous owner, maybe both, if it were me I'd walk away, I'm sure there are better ones out there if you can just bide your time.

Yeah, I think it's a no brainer. The carfully taken photos don't show the wear and tear ....

These autos don't come up as much as the manuals, but with patience the right one will. I'll keep an open mind about the 190BHP version.

I'm going to see a nice BRG manual 2010 with leather . also 133,000kms TD4e SS, and 2000€ cheaper at 11.900€. Looks cleaner in the photos ....

Concur with above comments - do you think it might have been a UN owned vehicle Smile . Each to their own but White to me is not suited to the Freelander. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Just like my MY2009, which has comparable mileage for the age, but otherwise, in top shape condition. Laughing Laughing Laughing
Will keep it until the wheels falls off, like in Laurel and Hardy movies, with those old Model T Fords....

Unlikely to be a UN vehicle Toyota Amazons seem to be the favoured UN vehicle, possibly a special price, met a guy in Africa who said they needed to have special purchase orders to get LR vehicles, they wanted Discos as the Amazons suffered from cracked chassis longitudinal box sections, being unitary construction they were written off. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.

The green TD4 looks good, but it’s an e, which as I understand is 2 wheel drive. Might not matter to you but just something to be aware of.

Td4e is still 4WD but is equipped with stop/start.

It's the ed4 that is 2ED.

ecological!! yes, checked inside. it's got terrain response.
got test drive in it tomorrow. but reckon I'll go for an automatic as it's better for off road purposes. will be my first ever drive in a FL2!!
