Ive never seen an air filter looking like that before. Has it got wet at some time (ie been wading deeper than it should)? Jules |

Sadly I haven’t no. If I do anything even as much as going up green lanes my wife thinks the car has something wrong with it. It has been pretty wet on the motorways recently. The only other thing I feel it could have been was my 2 year old was sitting on my lap and stated to tap the start/stop so the car would go to start the cut out as he pushed the button again so when I took him off my lap the start the car there was a faint back fire. |

Has it got the correct wheel arch protector on the passenger side front, it was designed to stop water ingress into the airbox. |

Seen that happen on blowbacks on petrol engines a few times but not on derv engines, you did mention a small backfire so that is your clue. |
