I take my D2 to Gibsons at Cumhock for a full service and chassis check/repair every year since I got it in 2013.
Its had 7 full services in 42k miles, including autobox oil changes

Anything reported by mechanics or advisories at an MOT I get repaired.

But once again, thanks to all

Freelander 2

The Blue one looks better, trendy diamond turned wheels, Leather armchair seats that green one doesn't have. Less miles and with it being an XS has a few more bits and bobs like a load bay cover, electric lumber etc. Preparation doesn't look top class but seems alot better than the green one. Our Disco 2 ended up with chassis patches front and back . South Lanarkshire does have a salt problem so that cars up here are more rotten than ones that have lived down south in central England and not near the coast. Good luck hunting.

[list=]Looks like they sold the white one then... the blue car looks a better bet than both the green an the white one. It had five advisories at last MoT test... first one is meaningless, second one trivial and then three that may still need attention.

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

Central Items removed from driver's view prior to test air freshener ()
Offside Rear Valve stem slightly damaged cracked (5.2.3 (j))
Offside Rear Service brake binding but not excessively (1.2.1 (f))
Nearside Rear Inner Oil leak, but not excessive drive shaft at diff (8.4.1 (a) (i))
parking brake performance only just met

Apart from that though, it doesn’t look too shabby.

Thanks for the continued interest. I think a lot of people on here have been members of the D2BC in the past.
Shows up in the very helpful answers.
One day I will join you, but keeping the D2 going.
Just love driving her.
Thanks again to all

Hi Jim, Going to keep hold of Disco 2? The second one we had ended up with 5 plates welded on , 3 at the back and 2 at the front and if not for that we would have kept it. We got a disco 3 Auto after that and the difference in power, ride , and get up and go was terrific. the air suspension over 3 years and quite a lot of proper towing never even wanted one spare part! The rest of it seemed to always be wanting some small job or other being done. As I am way past my sell by date the need for a big 4x4 isn't there any more, I bought a SD4 Freelander, (she who I must obey doesn't like Evoques) and which for about 1 day seemed too small but now after nearly two months I find it so quick and handy. Disco 2,s are now just a memory of how sluggish they are in comparison even though they have the load capacity of a van. Freelander great for oldie like me.

Remapped, egr, centre exhaust box and cat removed mine wasn't sluggish Very Happy it did like to warp exhaust manifolds though. Chassis was pretty good on mine, never welded up to 13 years old, plenty of preventative wax oiling. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

My chassis needed some welding 3 years ago.
Reason it goes to Gibson's every year for checking and repairing if necessary. Waxoiled by Gibson's.
Very fast for an auto, I think it has been chipped before i Got it.
Surprised a few car drivers from the lights, boy racer stuff at nearly 79.
You have to show these young racers who is the boss.
At least if they run into me i will drive away.
Wonderful suggestions and banter from you all.
Keep faith and keep safe.

Jim A.
