United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 SE Auto Firenze Red

It was a black day when the government got rid of the VED tax disc. The reason being a car without tax is also more likely to have no insurance and the driver without a licence. Police could more easily spot illegal cars when the tax disc was missing or incorrect. Now without ANPR you / they have no idea.
Since that day the number of uninsured vehicles has risen to 4% - about 1 million drivers.
So if some uninsured scumbag driver puts you in a wheel chair for the rest of your life who are you going to claim against?

I think it reasonable that road cyclists have insurance - I do - its not expensive.

I also think road cyclists should have an audible warning too ( a bell would do) - I do - its compulsory in many European countries.

Around me many of the roads are single or narrow with no pavements. It really hacks me off when cyclists approach from behind in near silence and fail to warm me or my dogs of their presence. when Im cycling I ring my bell to warn dogs and walkers in plenty of time so that they are not startled - common courtesy - sadly becoming less common in this country.

I think some compassion, consideration and understanding of our fellow road users and their needs is needed here.

As a road cyclist I do have insurance and so do the majority of club riders as with our club it’s a requirement. The argument with regards to road tax never stands up as you have, now, a large volume of vehicles which aren’t required to pay “road tax” as they have zero emissions. Road tax doesn’t exist and hasn’t for years Rolling with laughter I own two cars and probably pay more “road tax” than other vehicle owners who run stupid electric vehicles which run off the national grid still burning fossil fuels. Now there’s another argument Surprised ...

'Club Riders' .......... Not ONE road cyclist but MANY !!!

as road vehicle, we are prohibited from forming convoys on the open road, where as road cyclists can !!! why ???

so you manage to over take one cyclist, only to find another cyclist, then another and another ....... BAN IT !!!!

That proves it is not safe.

If you put more hazards on the road like roundabouts, it will cause more accidents.

Road was closed here recently as someone had driven over a roundabout and crashed.

You're absolutely right, lets get rid of all traffic lights, roundabout sand junctions because drivers keep having accidents there and let it be free for all Jules

I was with my cousin from England & in thick traffic he wanted to drive in his right hand drive car a few times around Arc de Triomphe. It worked brilliantly, no scratches but maybe a few skid marks! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

We have the same conditions in London, Hyde Park Corner, enter at your peril and if you leave without a scratch, you are either lucky or mad !

"The evening before it officially opened, while it was operating on temporary traffic lights, a car driver "collided with a Belisha beacon column, causing it to lean slightly - the driver failed to stop at the scene", a council spokesman said."

I would call that a Protest Vote .........

I suggest the UK place a Dutch Cap on these type of round-about to stop them breeding.
