Australia 2014 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Barolo Black
NAVIGATION

Just traded our 2002 Discovery TD5 on a 2014 Freelander 2 TD4SE. Chuffed to say the least.
Still exploring what she has and hasn't got.
Question - we do not have the built-in Navigation.... is there a way I can plug our Tom Tom in so that it can be viewed on the touch screen?

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but welcome.

The Garmin nuvi originally fitted to my Freeo was completely independent of the sound system due to Australian market product. Hopefully someone can help with yours.

See you on the tracks

Australia is operating as if we were different countries..... or rather from different planets! There are so many different rules in each State for how you can or cannot touch a phone when driving even if it is being used solely as a Sat Nav, it's easier to have a dedicated Sat Nav as you are allowed to touch them & not get a hefty fine.

You can also use a two way radio in your hand but not a mobile phone. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Actually it’s possible but you’d need to use a GVIF interface to link up to the vacant LVDS input on the FCDIM from OE input and you’d have to edit CCF so navigation options is available to activate the input. Not sure about Tom Tom being able to provide an output to GVIF interface though.
Pretty sure there’s easier aftermarket solutions that utilise the factory touchscreen via mirroring either IOS or Android via the GVIF interface rather than what your proposing.

I think as your coming from a D2 with very old electrical architecture to a L359 with CAN, LIN, MOST etc in other words rather sophisticated electrical BUS architecture you’d need to do some research before you proceed.

I’ll be reporting on this option shortly which uses factory Gen2.1 ICE.

sat nav

My 09 FL2 is fitted with an aftermarket kenwood system that fits under the passenger seat and plugs into the LR system and includes sat nav, ipod usb ports reversing camera , bluetooth and other stuff I have no idea how to use .The original gps was a garmin program and was totally useless it got lost more than me and almost stopped when the tyres hit the dirt and cost around $300 to update.I now use a generic program from ebay and it works well . the whole system is difficult to use and I have the owners manual which is 91 A4 pages .I once lost my reverse camera after the battery was disconnected ind after 2 weeks of trying I managed to contact the technicians at kenwood and it took them 4hrs to get back to me with the instructions on how to get it started again . 09 freelander

Not true!

There is a seller on ebay based in Australia that has a system which integrates Android Auto with Gen2.1 factory system.

Land Rover Freelander2 2012-15 - Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Integration.

Just search for the above. The seller is oznaviplus.

The same seller also has a system that can add navigation to existing Gen2.1
