My LR2 is almost 13 years old but she still cleans up well.

Someday I might modify mine like Lite-Water has done for his.

6 years of service life is conservative.

The company that I bought the Michelin's from recommend 6 to 10 years, but they don't provide guidance as to how to decide which tires should be replaced sooner (6 years) or later (10 years).

If I keep driving like I have been for in these COVID time in 6 years I will have under 20,000 miles on these tires.

I read what you wrote about getting your Freel2 and heading off camping immediately.

That is a great story that you can tell your grandchildren someday.

I am impressed that you have modified your Freel2 so heavily and you've only owned it for a short period of time.


I am starting to think that you opinion is better than the tire store.

6 years is not conservative if you have to get a new tyre freighted to the Gibb River Road from Perth & get the new tyre on the rim yourself. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Are you using bead lock wheels?

If not then how did you remove and replace the tire? Pry bar?

We have 2 spares & plenty of tyre plugs. It's hard enough just swapping a wheel & or plugging a tyre.

I wouldn't want to get one off & on a rim.

Having a second spare provides a lot more peace of mind. If you keep plugging the tyres in use you have the 2 best ones as spares.

Also use TPMS, if you catch a flat tyre early you can repair it before it's destroyed so you still have 2 spares. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

LR2 Mike,

I am running 2.4 Bar, which is 35 PSI.

If you are driving long distance at speeds above 85 MPH or if you are carrying a lot of cargo then I would go to 38 PSI.

But for normal use 35 will be fine.

If the ride is too stiff at 35 you can back down to 32 for in town driving and use 35 for high speed travel
