Mine will be due towards the end of this year - 7 years. Thinking of going to Maltings Off Road Ltd in Doncaster.

well I guess Andy131 that if the dealers were exceptional, the product was reliable and Landrover support was good they would be very dangerous in the market as they would certainly do some damage to other makes as there is no doubt the product to drive, and look at takes a lot of beating.

I had the 10 years service and belt done at Maltings last year . Can’t fault them . You won’t find a luxury garage , it’s more of a country village farmers garage . It is in the middle of nowhere . We took another car and had a day visiting Lincoln whilst the job was done . Their rates are as good as youl’ll find . They used Gates OE spec parts , so there are no worries . Bear in mind that there are not really LandRover parts for the engine it’s a Ford/PSA diesel , you’d be getting Peugeot spec parts in a LR box and paying for the privilege. This year because the car is eleven years old I had it serviced locally and supplied all the parts and fluids , I bought Goodridge flexible hoses from Maltings and had them fitted too , they were great to deal with on mail order as well Maltings are cheaper because they don’t have the overheads of The chrome gin palace necessary to sell you a £70,000 defender..... 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Best Car I ever owned ! 2023 Toyota Hilux invincible X 2.8 Auto . |

Just had mine done by an authorised LR service agent in New Malden (Not a dealer) but an authorised garage to do JLR warranty work, servicing and repairs. the A service and belt and water pump (LR pump and belt kit) all done for just under £640 with the book stamped and online SH updated. Very happy with that, but not so happy when they tried to say the car needed more work. Brake fluid change ? Done in 2019 and still showing less than 1% moisture content. Air Con service. Also done in 2019 including re-gas and working fine. They also said the rear bushes on the front lower suspension arms where slightly worn and need changing (cars done 54k) and then 4 wheel alignment afterwards, MOT'd the month befor and was fine, then it needed a rear diff output seal on the O/S. It's just a small dark patch around it, not even damp with oil. In total an additional cost of nearly £2,500. I suspect it may have been a case of get the car in and do the belt & service for a good price with a view to finding more work and trying worry the customer in to getting the other stuff done. Here are some pictures taken from the video they sent me. Un even tyre wear because of the worn bushes, The Bushes and the diff seal. I’m aware of that Mikey. It just seems that so many people/companies that ought to know better keep quoting something other than LR’s recommendations. 9 years is one I’ve not seen before though. |
