Never had any issue with the Bosch fuel filters I've used for the last six years, so as far as I'm concerned the answer is no, they aren't any better. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal. 171037Km as of 09/05/22 Superchips Bluefin Flash Nanocom Evo II (also sold) |

Well a new fuel filter has been fitted today by the garage. They've used a Mahle branded one, which they advice me is an OE part, just like the Purflux filter. Has anybody had a good or bad experience with a Mahle fuel filter?

I had exactly the same issue - loss of power at about 1700-1800rpm when the air temperature was at or above about 17 degrees C.

Hi, I really hope you have found a cure, but I fear the problem will return, change a part and the problem goes away for a time , even a new battery was a cure for a week on my car . It just seems as if the ECU takes time to readjust before allowing the fault to appear again. |

In my experience, the way it tends to work is that the genuine part will be subject to more Quality control testing, measurements etc that the exactly the same part. FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green Evoque SD4 Auto Blue. FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone. RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone |

Well I've racked up a fair few miles with the new OEM filter, including some long 3+ hour journeys and I have to say the car is behaving perfectly. No lack of power pulling away from anywhere. I know the outside temperature hasn't been as hot as previous but driving for 3+ hours constant in 18c heat seems a good similar test.

Just a bit of information to throw in the mix about fuel filters. A LR Assist guy once told me that they had had problems with some LR filters that had too fine a mesh in them which caused the reduced power mode to kick in and that when these were changed all was OK. The problems was most acute when people were still using summer diesel when cold weather arrived (anti waxing agents are added by diesel fuel suppliers in cooler months).

With respect Dorset, this is standard prattle with those guys, every time , they had a faulty batch of this that or the other , every time they attend to sort your problem,I think it’s a given part of their training to gloss over the fact LR vehicles are not the most reliable of the bunch. |

Replacing a non-genuine fuel filter with a proper Land Rover one has cured the problems I was experiencing with my Freelander 2 |
