Hi all,

So I picked up my FL2 today (MY12 SD4 HSE) and was disappointed to find that the Aux socket in the centre console is out of commission. From what I can tell, the previous owner had something plugged into it which snapped off, leaving part of the 3.5mm jack stock in the socket. No way to get it out that I can tell so I ordered a replacement socket but then was unable to find any guidance as to how to remove and replace the old one on this site?

I will probably work it out but if anyone can provide any pointers, it would be greatly appreciated!

If you mean the 3.5mm headphone type then there are loads of videos on YouTube showing how to remove stuck parts of the headphone jack. I have once done this on an iPhone.

If you can't get whatever is in ther removed, it's easy and cheap to replace the whole socket.

If you use a flat blade screwdriver to lift the little coin tray at the very back (the bit almost on the back passenger floor) up and then pull the larger coin tray out. That gives you access to the connections and also allows the whole socket to be removed, although it's fiddly.

Duckworths (the site sponsor) can get you a new one. Done it myself.

*Edit* missed the fact you've already bought a new socket. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I think you need to use a flat blade to separate the 2 sections from each other, but from underneath. If I remember rightly I broke the clips getting it out. Was fiddly but I may have been doing it wrong. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

So,I did this and it took,less than 10 minutes. Pop the sections out of the rear of the centre console as described above. The actual port itself has two tiny holes inside, either side of the pins. Find something to insert into these two holes (I used a tiny pair of tweezers) and the socket separates into two pieces. Remove one from above and one from below. If you are replacing the socket, have a good look at the replacement to understand exactly where the release holes are first. It’s a bit fiddly, but once you work it out, it’s fairly straightforward.
Only issue I had was that the supplier sent a faulty replacement socket so I will have to repeat the exercise when the new one arrives, but easy enough now I know how.

So, does this 3.5 aux-in enable music to be played from an iphone?, using the right connector of course?

Understand the bluetooth is only for calls etc so am looking for a way to play my music without getting an add-on bluetooth radio transmitter.

Haven't collected my Freelander 2 SD4 XS 2012 yet but really want to know as much as poss beforehand.

Yes, provided you can use a cable to connect to the headphone jack in your phone. Alternatively, get a Bluetooth transmitter and plug that into the Aux port and connect your phone to the transmitter via Bluetooth. I have done this and my phone connects via Bluetooth to the LR2 hands free phone but the media connects via the Bluetooth transmitter. Only thing to watch is that many Bluetooth transmitters buzz when you plug them in to charge. So don’t listen to music and charge the transmitter at the same time

Have looked at the Bluetooth transmitter/receivers but, am concerned this may cause confusion if I was also connected to the cars phone bluetooth. Which one will operate if I was to receive a call? maybe it'll be a race between the two

With mine, the car picks up the phone calls and the receiver just handles the media
