Front power socket is definitely permanently on. I don’t know why, perhaps the previous owner had it re-wired that way for some reason? |

Both front and rear sockets in the centre console still have their plug in covers, so there’s little danger of accidentally shorting them out. |

Hi , just a thought , is it possible someone has wired the front socket directly to the rear socket which is definitely always live . Maybe the original wiring is lying redundant under the front socket and that would mean the fuse you replaced is doing nothing . |

They must be separate as the rear one was already working. The fuse had definitely blown and on replacing the fuse the front one works as well now, albeit permanently on.

I ran an additional cigarette lighter socket from passenger fuse box over to drivers side underneath dash and plug my sat nav into it, ignition live feed so it goes off when ignition off Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Both my front and rear sockets are live when the ignition is on - but then stay powered for up to a minute or more after the ignition is turned off. i used to turn off my camera dectector manually as i thought it stayed live - but it does go off eventually. |

Be aware that on the last versions of the FL2 the 12v sockets are all active together and come alive when instructed by car software.

Spot on Ianmetro! just fitted a new battery and now the sockets stay on much longer when the ignition is turned off - don't know how long as i got bored waiting after 10 minutes- perhaps they go off when you lock the doors? ![]() |

Mine is a later model (64 plate) so it could be as IanMetro says?

My daughters Vauxhall Astra's radio stays on (don't know for how long) with the key removed until the drivers door is opened.

I checked it out and yes it does finally shut down! It took about 2-3 minutes after switching the ignition off, didn’t need to lock the doors I sat inside and watched.
