Noise when operating electric handbrake

I have recently noticed that when I operate the electric handbrake there is a squeak/screeching sound emitted from the rear while the brake is being applied or released. I only noticed it recently when the I had the drivers door open, so not sure how long it has been present

Has anyone else had or got any knowledge regarding this symptom??

Many thanks Steve

you should hear a 'whirring' sound for about 2-3 seconds while the electronic park brake is applied or released

Yes I think that is normal. My noise seems to have replaced this when applying or releasing the handbrake, so sounds like something is worn or needs lubrication

Mileage ?
original brakes ?

I would dismantle (not difficult) caliper and pads - check for excessive wear (replace disks & pads if necessary) , clean (spray brake cleaner and face mask) and reassemble with appropriate brake lubrication and see what happens. Jules

Mileage is currently 120k

New rear discs at 75k New rear pads at 112k. There is a "lip" on the discs, but I haven't measured it yet to see whether it is within tolerance

My rear disks needing replacing at 40K - yours have done 45K - I suspect they are on their way out. Easy job with the EPB compared to the manual hand brake. Jules
