you just can't help some people | |
or maybe that should be "you just shouldn't help some people"
The window cleaner accross the road is tighter than a ducks backside (as in watertight), he thinks that spending money servicing cars, is a waste of money, and when they eventually do require some work, then it's the manufacturers fault for making them unreliable. Oh and he thinks mechanics are overrated and overpaid.
So the glowplug light on his Seat has been flashing, he replaces the glow plugs, but the light doesn't go off - why would it, if it were genuinely the glow plugs, the fault would need to be cleared. He has been mithering for a few weeks, but today he caught me cleaning the caravan, so I plugged in the fault code reader, and the pressure sensor for the Turbo was generating an error. Easy fix, new sensor £30, two bolts and a plug it will take him 10 minutes if only he would listen.
Pointed him to a website with the right Bosch sensor and went off cleaning the van, two hours later he comes back with the news that he has found it £10 cheaper, but the new website calls it something different. I ask is the part number the same - no but it should fit ! says the website.
You just know he is going to buy the wrong cheaper sensor, it isn't going to work and it's my fault.
Glow plug light - that flashes for a vast number of reasons, most of which have nothing to do with the glow plugs. So it is possible he has pulled out working genuine Bosch glow plugs and fitted the cheapest copies he can find, that will fail before winter. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
