Brazil 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Fuji White

Moisture building up where? The sensor looks clean and the diesel filter is replaced every 5.000km.

I usually keep the tank full to capacity, rarely I let it go under half of capacity. Freelander 2 2014 SD4 Automatic HSE Fuji White

Water sensor

It might be possible that the thin layer of plastic from the bottom of diesel filter to break and spill diesel everywhere. I think this issue is important to fix somehow.
Water can accumulate in the tank over the years mostly in cold weather. When the warning appears I think that we must drain the water from the bottom of the filter can. I know trucks that has this feature without sensor but one plug in the bottom.
Freelander 1 did not have something like this because the itermediate pump has high speed rotation and mix water with diesel before diesel filter.

Sensor does not detect water in the fuel it detects water gathered on the bottom of the filter. The water does not pass the filter.

Wait, what?!

I do have the sensor in place (a genuine one); the message "Water in fuel" appears from time to time during the start-up, and then it's gone a couple of seconds later.

The fuel filter was replaced at least three times and every time there is no water trapped on it.

Running a generic OBD2 after the message is shown reads a DTC "P2264(00) Fuel/Water separator sensor - circuit malfunction".

Without the sensor, the message does not appear (obviously) but a DTC like "missing fuel/water separator sensor" is recorded. Freelander 2 2014 SD4 Automatic HSE Fuji White
