The battery is not your "normal" button type as it is rechargeable and charges in the car when in it`s slot in the dash. That is why it`s soldered in as it should last a good number of years before it needs replaced. It`s very important that it is replaced with another rechargeable type battery. |

Yes, it is soldered at three points if memory serves me. Lots of youtube DIY vids but once you split the case you will have to glue/silicone it back together. |

Shouldn’t be soldered, looks to be resistance welded.....less heat for less time.....something important on a battery. Regards

car would neither lock or unlock today, but it was open at the time so not a problem, called to see a mate of mine who has a garage, he had actually replaced the battery in one 2 weeks ago, he had a look at mine and spotted one of the 3 tabs of the battery that get soldered had come lose, so a blob of solder and all is well |

No, the battery connection tabs are definitely soldered into the circuit board, I think the connection you're looking at is where the connection tab is attached to the cell, a new battery comes with tabs ready fitted. |

The tabs are welded, as said above.

Indeed but the original post showed a picture of the battery and welded tabs, I just didn’t want somebody breaking the tabs off the old battery and trying to solder them to the new battery......could end in tears, and a lot of smoke! Regards David Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me...... Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again...... |
