England 2011 LR2 SD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver
Coming back 😃

Evening everyone, well after a year and a half of owning and running a discovery sport, we are sending it back and re-contracting to a freelander 2 HSE LUX. I can't wait. 2 dpf changes, timing chain replaced and still not sorted. What a crap motor it has been. We have spent the last 5 months in loan cars, mostly very nice but without a towbar so couldn't do what we bought it for.

Another poor review for the Ingenium diesel engine! Doesnt fill me with much confidence. My wife is looking to change to an Evoque and Im very wary of her doing so. Shocked Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

AFAIK the transversely mounted Ingenium engine has had lots of dpf & oil dilution issues. I think you are wise to avoid. Jules

I believe the early D180 engines suffered with it in all models, which was ''fixed'' by LR as and when customers complained but AFAIK LR basically refused to accept there was a problem. But I believe that nearly all Euro 6 adblu reliant engines have the same problem so it may not just be LR.
The engines also suffer from balancer shaft problems which require replacing, but again LR have refused there is an actual problem AFAIK.

I think the D240 engines don't have the problem though, and in later models with the D180 the problem has gone away miraculously.
