2.2 tai camshaft timing marks




Can anyone tell me if the camshafts are lined up correctly as I’ve read the gog can jump on the shaft if it stops violently if the belt snaps, it’s on a 2007 2:2 tdi
There are two purple dots on the cams and one on the cog of each shaft.

Never heard of a chain jumping, just snapping. Very Happy
The dots you need to look for are embedded on the metal, on the lateral of the teeth themselves.
See below....

The presence of those dots, in my opinion, is because someone, sometime has dismantle the timing/camshafts and marked the position for reassembly.
