You couldn't write it!!

The vehicle has been idle for a fortnight, battery kept charged, went to go shopping and give it a run when a loud bang from underneath and clonking when turning the wheel, in short the drivers side front coil spring has snapped, only 4 weeks since MOT and no garages open.

Will have to what till the lockdown finishes and carefully drive to my local garage.😩

...... went to go shopping .......

Its Easter Bank Holiday Monday, one of only two days (other being Christmas Day) that major stores are not allowed to open, by law ...... and you go (small shop) shopping, during a lock-down ??

Feeding my son who has cancer and struggles to get what he needs doesn't really need justifying, now does it.

Sorry to hear that about your son Cobramark and wish him all the well in the world.

I've learned during time, the hard way, that is not my place to judge people based on the little info that I have.
The judgement chair is not mine and better to focus on what I am doing not on what others are doing...
There's a right way and a wrong way to do everything. And the wrong way is to keep trying to make everybody else do it the right way.

Shouldn't have to justify it to anyone.

And you still need to go food shopping whatever day it is...we did today as we needed stuff...

Depends where the spring has broken all it would do is lower the ride height on that road wheel.. whilst I wouldn’t be doing long distances on it you should be fine just popping to the shops ... Very Happy

Mark,

Obviously the first priority is to take care of your family.

Hopefully your son makes it through this tough time with access to the care needed.

If you have an hour and you want to consider a field expedient repair then take a look at something like this

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Jadpes-Spring-Spa...mp;sr=8-10

Note: you will still need to drive slowly but it may be enough to get you to the mechanic or more importantly to the shops to get the supplies needed for you son.

Take care

Paul

Alex's wisdom knows no bounds, and I have found it invaluable on this forum.

This should be the site motto. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Thanks for all the kind words, we are off to Oldham General for the second half of the lymphoma treatment. Should be done by June, most of the lumps are receding but he is having to self administer the bone marrow injections, but bearing up well.

We are quite fearful of COVID-29 as it would not see him surviving it, and unfortunately have to go out to support his needs including the transporting to hospital.

The Landy going bang means we are relying on my misses rusty old Jimny, thank god for it. Bow down

Easter Sunday maybe, but Easter Monday? They're all open, and have been for years. Steve

To maintain balance within the suspension set-up it would be wise to change both springs to the front.
Otherwise this could effect your steering, braking and overall handling of the vehicle. May also have an effect on tyre wear.

Whilst getting the work done, have the garage check your shock shocks, as he has the front dismantled.

It might be worth a phone around or email as many garages are open for business.

Some are only opening as required.
