Auto wipers but no auto lights & front fogs?

Hi all,

I thought I'd re-word a query I posted up on the technical/ mods section to help my try to figure this one out. Smile

Basically wifes 2012 FL SD4 GS has auto wipers and rear fogs but no auto lights or front fogs. Does anyone else have this setup?

Trying to figure out if the auto lights came as an option with the front fogs (as the indicator stalk only has the switch for rear fogs and no "auto" setting) whereas a replacement I've seen on ebay has the auto setting and option for front fogs too.

And from the back of this try to figure out if the auto lights can be retrofitted quite easily Smile

Cheers in advance!

Chris.

Mines a 63 plate SD4HSE and has the auto-light feature on the indicator stalk - off (although DRL still on) sidelights, headlights, auto. Fog lights activated on same stalk, forward for front, backwards for rears; not sure why you'd have rears and not front fogs?
Perhaps you simply don't have the auto setting on your model?

You can't rely on standard features with any LR, you may not apparently be able to order any extra outside of the packs but when it comes to a sale or no sale you can get what you want, dealers can order any build extra for demonstrator purposes andyou can buy it. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I don't get why one would have rear fog lights without front fogs....................seems illogical as an "option". Then again, this is my first used vehicle and first Landy. Confused

I find I rarely switch the fronts on, use the rears more.

Rear fogs are a legal requirement in the EU/UK, fronts are not so can be optional. Regards

I cannot remember the last time I drove in fog thick enough that fog lights worked better than decent dipped beams. Regards

I used mine quite often, given some of the pea-souper's that we get up these parts.

I changed mine to a Yellow beam, rather like the French headlamps of the 60/70's which made a huge difference to visibility...I think that they were all of a fiver from China and were still going strong when I sold the vehicle in January.

Where fog is concerned, less brightness is more.....

Yes!! Yellow is the best colour for fog or a blizzard........less blinding reflection.

I find the headlight levelling adjuster useful on foggy unlit roads, adjusting them down gets rid of a lot of the white out effect.

Out here everyone uses the fogs as driving lights, lack of street lights and too much traffic for main beam. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Well only ONE rear fog lamp is the requirement and it has to be on the off-side.
Many manufactures 'balance' the rear lamp cluster, and some don't fit bulbs, some don't fit the link wire. Some have Reverse on N/S and Fog on O/S

I have converted many vehicles to have BOTH fog lamps working on the rear.
