Removing Swirl Flaps and the Solenoid?

So I have started the 10 year service on our 2010 diesel today. I am also carrying out some preventative maintenance while the car is in bits. I have got a second hand inlet manifold without the swirl flaps I'm fitting, so the vacuum solenoid, tubing, actuator etc are no longer required, in fact of course the new second hand manifold doesn't have them.

Am I right in thinking that if I just leave the electronic solenoid off and leave its electrical harness connection disconnected, I will get a fault code and possibly an engine warning light? Anyone know?

It just seems a neater job to take whole lot off rather than refit part of it. I obviously have to blank the vacuum off anyway.

I've taken the existing manifold off today and all the swirl flaps are actually present and correct although there does seem to be a heck of a lot of play in the bearings. Maybe this is normal. Either way it isn't going back on.
