rear spoiler removal . . . .any tips ?

having just had my entire tailgate changed, I have my old one to try and get rid of in zermatt silver, thinking of taking bits off it like he wiper motor and the spoiler for starters , to sell for a few bob.

Has anyone any experience of removing a spoiler from a tailgate? I have both brackets off at each end, but clearly its stuck on with some resin . . . . I know the internet suggests for stuck on number plate removal use dental floss to saw away round the back of it, I may try doing that unless a better suggestion comes up . . . ? 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

I had to swap mine over and yes they are well stuck on. I used one of those cheap craft knives with the long blade and gently cut the adhesive whilst pulling apart soon came off with no damage .

I knew you would be the man to master it !! Sounds good to me, Bow down Bow down

Once its off I can then decide on a selling price . . . . maybe £60 , I know they sell for a lot more but its not all about fleecing people is it ? Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

A bit of heat from a hairdryer before you start with the blade will help.
Id take the wipermotor, tailgate switch / number plate lights and loom, lock actuator motor, and badges all off it,
Keep them as spares or stick them on the bay of E, Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Yeh it is a good way of getting some cash back from the initial spend makes you feel like you get more of a bargain but if you are owt like me sure as anything one day you will need that wiper motor or lock catch etc and end up buying another lol

Was the first on freel 2 to remove a factory fitted spoiler from a brand new dynamic. It was tough but a heat gun and dental floss is what you need.

I have used fishing line for similar jobs.

I've used a cheese wire, with handle either end, to remove rubber bonded items.

thanks for answers, I like the cheese wire idea. . . if I had any.

managed to complete it with dental floss and a craft knife, I saturated it both ends with wd40 it may or may not have helped, no heat used, next is the removal of the glue stuff . . . 2017 SEAT Ateca 4drive 2.0 xcellence (May 2022 -

WD40 will easily remove the adhesive as well.
