Grabbers......best off-road tyres on the planet. So good that Continental have bought them, purely to try and understand just why they are so good... |

Because i live by the sea... everything rusts.. especially chrome stuff on the mini as it sits around not ever getting used... My cars underneath don't as i keep ontop of that.. but the mini chrome seems to just get eaten and had enough of that! |

Assume its modern replacement chrome? The original stuff was pretty robust. A decent wax polish will keep it in good order or if its not used over the winter, paint it with waxoil or motorcycle chain lube then remove it with a little solvent when its going on the road again. I live just a few miles inland so salty enviornment too but mine lives in the garage and hibernates over winter. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

A few years ago we replaced 500 sixty year old roof tiles facing the ocean, eaten away from southerlies hitting Sydney, from the salt. Up until a few years ago previous cars were parked on the street since the 80s. Last car 18 years on the street, never an issue with chrome. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

It was cheap chrome from mini spares from when it had its overhaul. which is probably why. As i haven';t had a problem with chrome before
